Franklin, MA

Press Release:

Where Angels Play Foundation to build new playground in Franklin, MA while honoring Jersey Mike’s Subs’ Brian Venables

Background:

Born out of tragedy, the Where Angels Play Foundation has constructed legacy playgrounds to honor young lives taken too soon. Angels from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the Boston Marathon bombing, and countless others have been celebrated with playgrounds that reflect their personality and influence in the community. After building more than 60 playgrounds across the country, Canada, Puerto Rico and Rwanda, Africa, Where Angels Play has chosen Franklin, MA as the site of a playground Celebrating the Life of Brian Venables.

Where Angels Play Foundation and the Town of Franklin have agreed to partner with the Venables Family to build a state of the art, ADA accessible playground at Memorial Park.

Where Angels Play Foundation has been a long-time partner with Jersey Mike’s Subs, who have sponsored countless lunches for volunteers as well as fundraised for a number of playgrounds across the United States. Brian and the Venables family have provided leadership and mentored a whole new generation of young workers within the Jersey Mike’s corporation, especially in Massachusetts, where he and his business partner (and son-in law) Brian O’Loughlin opened several restaurants. A culture of giving and community service developed by Founder Peter Cancro, Mr. Venables and his team exemplified the spirit that endures today with the construction of this playground in his honor. Brian Venables was an integral part of the Jersey Mike’s family Where Angels Play is humbled and honored to celebrate Brian’s life with a custom playground designed by the Venables family.

To Celebrate the Life of Tommy Savino – April 2nd – 6th 2024

Where Angels Play Foundation and the Township of Pequannock have agreed to partner with the Savino Family to build a state of the art, ADA accessible playground at Greenview Park.

Growing up in town, Tom Savino played with his sister and friends at Greenview Park. In December of 2021, Tommy Savino lost his battle with a rare form of Lymphoma, but he continues to win the hearts of everyone who hears his story. Now, a beautiful new playscape playground will be built to honor him.

A hockey player, coach, hockey camp counselor, and referee, Tommy Savino changed the lives of every person he met.  He is remembered by his family as the most generous, thoughtful, kind, and uplifting spirit, always ready and willing to make a difference for those around him.  The Where Angels Play Foundation and the Township of Pequannock will make sure Tommy continues to bring smiles to the children of the area.

Where Angels Play Foundation came to know Tommy Savino as he refereed their fundraising hockey tournaments and were drawn to his story as they learned of the incredible impact Tommy had on his family, friends, and community in the 27 years he had on the earth.
